Super Gt here in Malaysia

Like every year, this particular motorsport event is not will be miss here in Malaysia. The Jap's every time landed here, it will bring some surprises. Honda, this year is introducing a brand new monster replacing the infamous NSX to battle in Super GT, the machine called HSV-010 GT. According to the news it is still prototype but somehow it can be enter the race. Powered by 3.4 litre v8 engine, it certainly in GT500 category. From the previous rounds, the Nissan GTRs now had to work extra battled with HSV.

One of my favourite is the M7 RX-7 FD3S, which is the one and only rotary engine with . Lead by Amemiya San of Re: Amemiya Racing ,It dominated the GT300 category. One of the Malaysian proud of which the team is fully sponsored by the Mutiara Motors of Malaysia. Certainly, it is worth to cheer for.

The most radical modification in here in Super Gt was the Toyota corolla axio . Base on the plain family sedan, it is transformed to high octane GT machine. Thanks to APR, who were also responsible for the famous Lightning McQueen MR-S, they made the race more exciting.

Not to forget the Petronas Toyota Team Tom's SC430. One of the Malaysian fully sponsored machine. This tough dog driven by Andre Lotterer and Juichi Wakisaka was the championship winner in the GT500 series in 2009.

Rear diffuser

Rear diffuser to further enhance high-speed driving performance. This helps extract the air more efficiently from the underbody which causes the pressure to drop and create downforce. After scouting for the perfect rear diffuser for my Rx-7, It only have two choices for my type of car which is the Top Secret and universal split version. Actually, i looking for the RE amemitya rear diffuser, but here in Malaysia, you wont easily get it. the only way to order it via internet which cost RM4000 per piece. The Top Secret rear diffuser mainly fitted for the Skylines or the Silvia's. Meanwhile, the universal split version diffuser is redesigned with a more aggressive dry fiber piece that houses 3 integrated air flows vent and splitters at each end.
At the end of the day, i choose the universal split version which is easily to fit and modified for installation. I found the best looking rear diffuser at After Twelve, Sunway. Due to the oversize HKS super dragger exhaust muffler, the diffuser had to cut to fit in. It cost me RM780 including the installation charges which for me it is good enough.

Under the Japan Spec Influence

In Japan, GT look been dominated the super sport cars there. The same holds true for automotive styling and performance here little bit. Although, most Proton Wira pimped from dull silly to wannabe rally, but this particular ride get Japanese influences to be a GT wannabe.
Built as a family sedan car, the then-blue Wira was fitted with a customized Mitsubishi Mirage bumper with lips. Promote air diffuser fitted to enhance airflow along the front bumper and was fully gutted for competition use. To complete the body kits, Mitsubishi Lancer GSR side skirt’s installed and fully customized rear bumper lips fitted. The exterior finished after installed a rear spoiler which took from Mazda RX-7 FD3S

MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve timing Electronic Control system) is the brand name of a variable valve timing engine technology developed by Mitsubishi Motors. In power plant department, the old scrappy 4G13 engine swapped to 4G92 engine which provided 145 PS at 7000 rpm, this MIVEC-equipped engine could achieve 175 PS at 7500 rpm
As for the interior, Mitsubishi Mirage dashboard and steering wheel dominate the space. With in dash monitor plus head unit, this ride can turn from fast mean machine to slow swinging mobile entertainment machine.

This ride uses a surprisingly simple and effective suspension setup. Mitsubishi Mirage springs suspend the car, while Tokico shocks provide the dampening. Wrapped around 16inch OS racing forged wheels, the 205/45 Sime Kruizer and Ventus tires used to stroll along the street. It's uber-fast on track and barely comfortable enough to drive on the street. But hey, you have to drive up the street to get to the track, right?

Burnout - styling effect

Its been a while, finally i manage to save some bucks to do some modd to my Project Radical fd3s. A month before, as usual i will do searching and do some homework what to do and what to expect. The next project is to fit in a body kits . Its to enhance the ride look to become more mean looking. Actually i been after a RE amemiya full body kits but there are some issue about the cost to get it. So my first step is to go out and search. The first place i went is to Sunway area, for those who didn't know where and what is all about, here is some of the hints. This area the most popular car accessorises, parts and even the car it self can be found here. The goods are mostly for the high performance, high standard machines. If you have a supercar, here is the place. So i went to ST wangan and found there was lovely a Rx-7 fd3s full carbons and fibers super kits in the store just for the display. It is original RE amemiya kits imported from Japan and when it is quote "made in Japan", the price will sky high. They quote the full price for the kits up to RM60k. That's insane, who wanna buy a kits which the same price with the car. I when out and looked for the kits which available around here. I look in at almost all of the body kits shops. Whenever i asked for the RE amemiya kits, they will said not available. They will suggest to custom made the kits. Some of the body kits man can do modification with out the original standard bumper, that i found a good way to modified. Most for them prefer to modified with the original bumper, cut and use the stock mountings. From there, it can mould what even you want to. But still i don't really prefer the custom made here. Still not in the good standard yet. The price range is about rm700- RM1000 for a piece of a bumper. The ready made body kits for Rx-7 fd3s are two types only. C-west kits, where i found its is too common here in Malaysia. Where ever i saw a fd3s running around, it will be in c-west kits. The second type is Veilside kits. Don't get wrong, this is not the latest Veilside Fortune kit. It is the old style Veilside kits and i found it is very ugly from every side. Its look like an old man ride.

So i can forget about the RE amemiya kits, it too and way expensive , C-west kits, too common and Veilside kits, too old. So i went to Ah choy and look for any kits available. There, i didn't expect to find any kits, but may be some after market bumpers. When i arrived there, he just pulled out a fd3s aftermarket fiber bumpers from a car. He wanna sell it rm1200 with the 99 spec signal lights. The problem is the bumper is torn at the mountings and sides. It is definitely have to sent to fiber shop for repair. It may took me a more time and more money. There was also a 99 spec original bumpers for sale but still not mean looking enough. May be 10 years after this, i will reconsider to fit in that bumper. So that day, i still didn't got any favorite kits in mind.

A week after that, i browse in the internet and found that Joe advertised some kits. Well, i remember that he also selling the full wide body Veilside Fortune kits and i remember said that it not for me. It is too wide and too extreme. One of the adverts, was he sell a Burnout bumper for Rx-7 fd3s. It quit rare to see this bumper, so in my mind, this bumper will be the one. To match the bumper, i need the side skirts. Unfortunately, the Burnout side skirt not available at all. So, i decided to match it by using c-west side skirts. That day, i spent RM750 for the Burnout bumper and RM600 for the C-west side skirts. The side skirts took about a week to arrived from Johor and all the items will be fitted at Best Kit, Pandan.

Its the day to replace the bumpers and side skirts, i sent out my ride about 11am and leave to Best Kits to do the fitment. Finally, After some adjustments, sanding, about 3pm, the kits complete fitted. I usually don't like running around with unpainted body kits, So i went to a nearby car body spray shop to end the process. The first shop i went, after the painter looked and made a circle a round my ride, he quote his price which was RM800. i didn't expect that high for a bumper and side skirts paint job, So i went back searching for a car body spray shop. Then, i found a body kits shop called Knights motor sports, they also do a car body spray. They gave me a best price which about RM550. Well i it good enough for me and let it overnight overthere for paint job. I request for same flame red for my kits but a little bit dark glossy black at the air outtake at the side circuit. The glossy black will made a look like carbon fiber panel attached. The next day about 5pm i went back to see the result. It is nice and the fibers are smoothly sanded which made the paint job excellent. This kits project still not finish yet, need some canards and diffusers to look for. Frankly, for me, this kits not really my dream kits, but still the best kit i can think of with a small money spent.

Sudden meet of RE club members in Sunway.

As i browsing Internet, searching for that i normally do..nothing. As usual i log in to Re club forum in zerotohundred.com. And there, a post by Joe Kong about a RE meet at Sunway Mentari, Sunway. The meet is the next day. It was a sudden and last minute decision meeting. Well as for me, this year i try my best to meet up the others Rotarian here in Malaysia. The next day , which was Sunday is my first off day, and usually its my fully sleeping day until evening. The meet was schedule about 3 pm, so my plan is to arrived a little bit late after i had my good sleep.

About 6pm, i picked up Iwan, he's my JDM super car freak, well ..we share lots of same ideas and passion about the Japanese machines. We arrived there about 7pm due to some miss navigate to Raydiance, Sunway Mentari. Finally we arrived and there was a empty parking space beside the mean look pearl white rx-7 fd3s. The car belong to the new owner, Kevin. He bought the car fully loaded with carbon kevlar font bonnet, work emotion 18 inch wheels, fully wide body by C-west. To monitor the engines performance and health, my god , this baby got full range of monitoring system. I personally love the full cockpit gizmos, but the risk to be own it..to much..

we meet the rest of the guys, and the was a old skool rx-7 Savanna 12A" twin-rotor engine's own by this Malay guy. From his appearance, he the one who over to the future, but in heart he is the old skool lover. His ride is simple yet deadly, the car was in the family for 22 years. It must have the dad was a boot cut with a heavy foot. The engine was keep to stock as well the exhaust system, but the sound out of it, was tremendously unbelievable, like a street drag car.

My agenda was just want to have small chats and meet around new rotor head and new well built rotaries. And there in the Raydiance shop, there was the fully customised Fast and Furious , Tokyo Drift Rx-7 fd3s in blue colour. The car was a so wide, that the fully wide offset 19 inch wheel had to put a least 2 inch of spacer to fit in the wheel bay. This ride is Joe's pride and joy, he spent, not a lot but huge cash to have this kind of ride. The Veilside bodykit was special imported from Japan and for those who crave for this kits, he already made a local made fiber full body kits for sale. I don't know the full price of the kits and i not really into this most extreme modifications. i need my ride to be normal ridden sportscar.

I spent about 2 hours there mingle around and it been good to see new people and new rotaries.

RE Club Meet at Mutiara Damansara

One evening, a short text message from Joe Kong, the head of Re club of Malaysia. the message is simple which there is will be a small meeting here at the curve damansara. That night i finally have a time which was 'suitable' for me to attend the meeting. the plan is just to have coffee talk about the next plan or event and mostly about the rotary.

As plan, me and Iwan cruised along and little bit Wangan via the MRR2 to Burger King/ Petronas at mutiara Damansara. The venue was quit strategic, nice ample car park and actually been used by some others Car Clubs to meet around. As i arrived there some of the Subaru scobby rides in the same lot. Some Evo's running around the place and also 2 porsche meet there. There was 4 FD3S and a RX8 gather that time. The meeting was a sudden meeting and we already expected small turn up by the owners. well , for me its a good idea, where as we can discuss or talk in more private way. Having the small TT session made me comfortable, easy way to communicate. If to many people, the crowd will be like pasar, well every one have different words in same time.

Finally Joe's FD machine is done. I can say this is the most perfect, finest street tune FD3S i ever seen. Further more he pluck in the RE amemiya GT2 full body kits with carbon fibers hood, front diffuser, rear diffuser. carbon fiber GT wing and lot more. The color bright pearl yellow was awsome and fit the with the car. It made the carbon fibers pop out with yellow colour as contrast. The front and rear wide body fender made the car look so darn fierce on the street. Nice handcraft workmanship there.

The meeting end about 1 am in the morning.

Super GT Int'l Series Malaysia 19-21 Jun 2009

Super GT is here again. This year I had been prepared to be there to see the live action. Unlike last year I and iwan only watch the practice session only, which usually on Friday. On the race day which Sunday, by 11am, I and iwan meet up at iwan’s house. Because of his brother is coming as well, well my car can’t fit 3 peoples, he decided to drive his Satria to go there. We made a quick detour to Fong’s place and met him at Sg Buluh R n R waited in his Celica. From there we head straight to Sepang SIC. The journey was no so pleased where there was a long traffic jam at the Puchong- Dengkil's strach. But still, when we arrived, we still have plenty of time to enjoy the festival. There at Sepang SIC the modd monsters was like went out from the hiding place, there lots of them around. Where the heck all these machines had been before? The ticket for that day at main grandstand was rm100.The First booth in line was the Mutiara Motor and there was an autograph signing by the M7 drivers Nobuteru Taniguchi and Ryo Orime. Well behind them, guess who, Mr Isami Amemiya and the pioneer in tuning rotary-powered Mazdas. He just behind the scene like nobody knew him. So I took this opportunity to greet him and took picture with him.

Like last years event, the Nissan was the largest booth and proudly to present the new Fairlady 370z and R35 GTR. All I can see the booth was not full like years before, maybe the economic recession, lots of the car and accessories company decided not to participated this year. But this year it was massive turn out for the car clubs to show off their rides at the tarmac area. Good job on that side, where spectators can be amaze with the Malaysian modders and do with their rides. On the stage the GT queens made up their appearance and announce their racing team with joy. This part the men’s cheers like crazy, may be coz of Japanese girl fantasies, hehehe
The race was started about 3am where the race car was release and made a few rounds for final tune up. The final preparation was the highlights where we all can see the cars from close range. All the teams’ shows up their rides and the GT queen made it so hot. About 4pm the race finally start by rolling start of GT500 and continued by the GT300. Me personally have an affair with Mazda RX-7 and the of course the favorite team was GT300 M7 MUTIARA MOTORSAMEMIYASGC 7 FD3S. This race where I truly amaze by the GT300 M7 MUTIARA MOTORSAMEMIYASGC 7 FD3S where from the last 3 position from behind, slowly he over took one by one car to rank position to 3 places. The Petronas team was also in using the PETRONAS TOM'S SC430 in GT500 category. Another Malaysian team was Thunder Asia MT900R. About the 6pm the race finally end and the result was the champion for this round for Gt500 was HASEMI TOMICA EBBRO GT-R and champion for GT300 was I.M JIHAN CO.LTD•APPLE•Shiden. The days end with excitement and truly pure high performance show off.
