Burnout - styling effect

Its been a while, finally i manage to save some bucks to do some modd to my Project Radical fd3s. A month before, as usual i will do searching and do some homework what to do and what to expect. The next project is to fit in a body kits . Its to enhance the ride look to become more mean looking. Actually i been after a RE amemiya full body kits but there are some issue about the cost to get it. So my first step is to go out and search. The first place i went is to Sunway area, for those who didn't know where and what is all about, here is some of the hints. This area the most popular car accessorises, parts and even the car it self can be found here. The goods are mostly for the high performance, high standard machines. If you have a supercar, here is the place. So i went to ST wangan and found there was lovely a Rx-7 fd3s full carbons and fibers super kits in the store just for the display. It is original RE amemiya kits imported from Japan and when it is quote "made in Japan", the price will sky high. They quote the full price for the kits up to RM60k. That's insane, who wanna buy a kits which the same price with the car. I when out and looked for the kits which available around here. I look in at almost all of the body kits shops. Whenever i asked for the RE amemiya kits, they will said not available. They will suggest to custom made the kits. Some of the body kits man can do modification with out the original standard bumper, that i found a good way to modified. Most for them prefer to modified with the original bumper, cut and use the stock mountings. From there, it can mould what even you want to. But still i don't really prefer the custom made here. Still not in the good standard yet. The price range is about rm700- RM1000 for a piece of a bumper. The ready made body kits for Rx-7 fd3s are two types only. C-west kits, where i found its is too common here in Malaysia. Where ever i saw a fd3s running around, it will be in c-west kits. The second type is Veilside kits. Don't get wrong, this is not the latest Veilside Fortune kit. It is the old style Veilside kits and i found it is very ugly from every side. Its look like an old man ride.

So i can forget about the RE amemiya kits, it too and way expensive , C-west kits, too common and Veilside kits, too old. So i went to Ah choy and look for any kits available. There, i didn't expect to find any kits, but may be some after market bumpers. When i arrived there, he just pulled out a fd3s aftermarket fiber bumpers from a car. He wanna sell it rm1200 with the 99 spec signal lights. The problem is the bumper is torn at the mountings and sides. It is definitely have to sent to fiber shop for repair. It may took me a more time and more money. There was also a 99 spec original bumpers for sale but still not mean looking enough. May be 10 years after this, i will reconsider to fit in that bumper. So that day, i still didn't got any favorite kits in mind.

A week after that, i browse in the internet and found that Joe advertised some kits. Well, i remember that he also selling the full wide body Veilside Fortune kits and i remember said that it not for me. It is too wide and too extreme. One of the adverts, was he sell a Burnout bumper for Rx-7 fd3s. It quit rare to see this bumper, so in my mind, this bumper will be the one. To match the bumper, i need the side skirts. Unfortunately, the Burnout side skirt not available at all. So, i decided to match it by using c-west side skirts. That day, i spent RM750 for the Burnout bumper and RM600 for the C-west side skirts. The side skirts took about a week to arrived from Johor and all the items will be fitted at Best Kit, Pandan.

Its the day to replace the bumpers and side skirts, i sent out my ride about 11am and leave to Best Kits to do the fitment. Finally, After some adjustments, sanding, about 3pm, the kits complete fitted. I usually don't like running around with unpainted body kits, So i went to a nearby car body spray shop to end the process. The first shop i went, after the painter looked and made a circle a round my ride, he quote his price which was RM800. i didn't expect that high for a bumper and side skirts paint job, So i went back searching for a car body spray shop. Then, i found a body kits shop called Knights motor sports, they also do a car body spray. They gave me a best price which about RM550. Well i it good enough for me and let it overnight overthere for paint job. I request for same flame red for my kits but a little bit dark glossy black at the air outtake at the side circuit. The glossy black will made a look like carbon fiber panel attached. The next day about 5pm i went back to see the result. It is nice and the fibers are smoothly sanded which made the paint job excellent. This kits project still not finish yet, need some canards and diffusers to look for. Frankly, for me, this kits not really my dream kits, but still the best kit i can think of with a small money spent.

Sudden meet of RE club members in Sunway.

As i browsing Internet, searching for that i normally do..nothing. As usual i log in to Re club forum in zerotohundred.com. And there, a post by Joe Kong about a RE meet at Sunway Mentari, Sunway. The meet is the next day. It was a sudden and last minute decision meeting. Well as for me, this year i try my best to meet up the others Rotarian here in Malaysia. The next day , which was Sunday is my first off day, and usually its my fully sleeping day until evening. The meet was schedule about 3 pm, so my plan is to arrived a little bit late after i had my good sleep.

About 6pm, i picked up Iwan, he's my JDM super car freak, well ..we share lots of same ideas and passion about the Japanese machines. We arrived there about 7pm due to some miss navigate to Raydiance, Sunway Mentari. Finally we arrived and there was a empty parking space beside the mean look pearl white rx-7 fd3s. The car belong to the new owner, Kevin. He bought the car fully loaded with carbon kevlar font bonnet, work emotion 18 inch wheels, fully wide body by C-west. To monitor the engines performance and health, my god , this baby got full range of monitoring system. I personally love the full cockpit gizmos, but the risk to be own it..to much..

we meet the rest of the guys, and the was a old skool rx-7 Savanna 12A" twin-rotor engine's own by this Malay guy. From his appearance, he the one who over to the future, but in heart he is the old skool lover. His ride is simple yet deadly, the car was in the family for 22 years. It must have the dad was a boot cut with a heavy foot. The engine was keep to stock as well the exhaust system, but the sound out of it, was tremendously unbelievable, like a street drag car.

My agenda was just want to have small chats and meet around new rotor head and new well built rotaries. And there in the Raydiance shop, there was the fully customised Fast and Furious , Tokyo Drift Rx-7 fd3s in blue colour. The car was a so wide, that the fully wide offset 19 inch wheel had to put a least 2 inch of spacer to fit in the wheel bay. This ride is Joe's pride and joy, he spent, not a lot but huge cash to have this kind of ride. The Veilside bodykit was special imported from Japan and for those who crave for this kits, he already made a local made fiber full body kits for sale. I don't know the full price of the kits and i not really into this most extreme modifications. i need my ride to be normal ridden sportscar.

I spent about 2 hours there mingle around and it been good to see new people and new rotaries.
